You spend too much time building and not enough time thinking through the build. Most BI developers don't have a repeatable process for moving from a vague request to a finished dashboard, so every project starts from scratch. AI can help, but only if you understand how to fit it into your workflow.
In this session, you'll build a complete dashboard from scratch, using AI to inform each step. The live demo runs in Tableau with Claude and Figma Make, but you don't need to install any of them to take part: the workflow is tool-agnostic and applies to almost any AI and BI combination you already use. You'll leave with a repeatable process that moves from measurement plan to wireframing to calculations to finished dashboard, with AI accelerating each step.
What you'll learn
Build a measurement plan before you open any BI or AI tool
This first step turns a vague stakeholder request into a clear spec, so the rest of the build has direction.
Prompt an LLM to generate structured dashboard wireframes
Feed the model your data schema and measurement plan so it drafts a layout grounded in what you actually need to show.
Draft calculation syntax with AI, and know when to correct it
AI can speed up the tedious parts, but recognizing where its output is wrong is what keeps the final dashboard accurate.
Apply a repeatable AI workflow to your next dashboard project
The process works across tools, so you can reuse it instead of starting from scratch on every project.

Prerequisites
Intermediate familiarity with your BI tool of choice (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
Basic experience with an AI tool (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, etc.)
We’ll use Tableau, Claude and Figma Make for the demo, but the general framework can be applied using most AI/BI tools
